Discuss how “social media websites from Facebook to Twitter have shaped the online social landscape.”  

Ask, while it is “easier than ever to spread news and reconnect with old friends;” nevertheless, “is social media good for us?” 

“Consider ethical and political problems raised by social media, including threats to our self-esteem, economy, democracy, news media, and even our free will.”

Brief  BIOs: 

Both presenters are Ph.D. students in the Department of Philosophy at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. 

Emma researches ethics and political philosophy and teaches courses on ethics, feminist philosophy, and the philosophy of sex and love at the UW.

Adam researches the intersection of ethics and social science. He teaches courses in the philosophy, legal studies and communications at the UW.
